Dull and dreary hair takes away half the beauty of the face. Healthy, glossy, manageable hair that reflects light and falls around the face beautifully, is the dream of every woman that is not so difficult to attain after all. Here are a few tips to make your hair shine:

As we move towards more "natural" ways of wearing our hair, many of us have been searching for natural products. Many people will do any and everything including using bar soap or harmful concentrates to avoid over-the-counter (OTC) products...especially since they're now thought to cause cancer.

This post is in response to: Cornrows and Dreadlocks aren't for Ex-Cons
I get what you're saying but IMHO, it's the "thugs" who have paved the way for dreads being more acceptable. Like most everything in African-American culture, our style, our music, our way of being began in neighborhoods and "hoods." By the time it becomes pervasive in the "hood" so to speak, the mainstream is just taking notice.

However, discrimination is not limited to those people of different backgrounds. Intraracial discrimination is, and always has been, a part of the American culture but no where is it more prevalent than in the black community.

What are Flat Dreadlocks?
Flattened dreadlocks is more commonly referred to as "flapping." They are just what they sound like...flat dreadlocks. Where dreadlocks are typically known to be rounded/cylindrical, in some cases the dreads may develop in such as way that they are flat...like a pancake.

A stroll down the shampoo aisle is always an eye opener. What are shampoos doing these days? Will they revitalize or energize our hair? Add luster or remove buildup? Nourish or rejuvenate?

Type 1 - Straight Hair
There is no discernible wave pattern.
Due to the lack of speed-bumps (curls/waves), hairs' natural oil (sebum) is able to work its way from root to tip more readily with straight hair than any other hair type. Straight hair therefore gets oilier quicker, usually needs more frequent shampooing than other hair types and has the potential to attain greater lengths.
